Course Outcomes: 

Ritual and Social Interaction

  • Students will develop an enhanced understanding of social interaction, of what it means to be in the presence of others, and ultimately of being human and interacting with other human beings.

  • Students will prepare to do effective fieldwork and deskwork, to eventually produce accurate, useful, and insightful interpretations of various interactional practices.

  • Students will learn to describe the positions, ideas, and methods that will most help make sense of various interactional practices, of particular social institutions, activities, events, roles, places, and objects.

  • Students will demonstrate the ability to think soundly, to communicate effectively, and to write a clear and convincing essay.
